The Komodo dragon is the world’s largest lizard. It’s also a creature of legend, looking, as it does, a lot like the planet’s last dinosaur left stranded in a small pocket of islands in the Indian Ocean. Stories abound of the dragons’ attacks on those who have visited their isolated home over the years.We flew from Bali - Denpasar Airport to Labuanbajo on Flores.
A two day one night tour will get you to Komodo and Rinca, as well as stopping at some other islands on the way for snorkelling and beach activities. Our tour organised by Travel Sparks .

Hello Komodo!
The biggest Komodo dragon is 3 meters long and lives to a maximum 30 years. The dragons are very dangerous. Their saliva contains poison, and if one attacks you, the rest of the Komodo Dragons will try to finish you off. On the average, there are 20 eggs which hatch after 7-8 months. The young Komodos mature after 8-9 years but have to fight for survival against predators and their cannibalistic mothers.

Along the way to Loh Liang is a secret cove known as the Pink Beach or Pantai Merah.
Beautiful vibrant coral life just a swim away from the beach! I’m not a diver but I do like snorkelling, and it turns out that Komodo is an ideal place to snorkel. Being a national park has protected a lot of the reef from destructive dynamite fishing
Pink Beach, or Pantai Merah, as it is aptly named, is one of seven pink beaches on the planet, and is just one of the many amazing features of Komodo Island that make it truly a Natural Wonder of Nature. This exceptional beach gets its striking color from microscopic animals called Foraminifera, which produce a red pigment on the coral reefs.

I truly enjoyed this trip. Love the adventurous hiking and komodo hunting in Komodo Dragon National Park as well as the secret pink beach which surprised me! I would love to do snorkelling again there as the reef and those giant turtles captured my heart. I'm glad that this place is unlocked in my To-Travel list, Yay!
